Skip's favorite enjoyment in life was spoiling his granddaughter, Brandi, and great-granddaughter, Charlotte. His mother, Mary, resided with him and they enthusiastically enjoyed cheering on the Cyclones. He also enjoyed watching old Western movies, completing the New York Times crossword puzzle, cribbage, backgammon, cooking, gardening, reading, shopping and playing Lotto.
Skip is survived by his mother, Mary, of Ames and siblings: Rhonda (Jeff) Riley of Nevada, Greg (Debbie) Cox of Huxley, Tari Lee of Des Moines, Wayde (Betty) Cox of Brownsville, Texas, Danielle (Randy) Brown of Radcliffe, Vicki Cox of Nevada, and CJ Kaiser of Ames; an estranged son Robbie Cox of Des Moines and 3 grandsons; 22 nieces & nephews and 33 great-nieces & nephews and one great-great nephew. He is also survived by his faithful companion of seven years, Cleopatria (Cleo the Cat).

CandleSo sad to hear of Skip's passing. I worked for him at Parks Library for two years when I was a student and always enjoyed his humor and stories. My prayers for and condolences to his family.

CandleIt's too bad I never got to meet the father my husband always talked so highly of. Even though you and Robbie didn't see eye to eye he has been a great husband to me and I have YOU to thank for that. May God be with and bless your family through this difficult time. Thank you Skip for the wonderful son you raised I am very grateful.

CandleI didn't know Skip real well. Knew him short time through the AFSCME union meetings. Always a nice guy. Sympathies to family

CandleSkip will be missed by his friends at AFSCME Local 96. He contributed his time to causes he felt worthy, and we were privileged to have him think that the union was deserving of his time. Skip was funny and opinionated (usually at the same time). We will miss his friendship!
