Byron K. Schulke passed away on February 24, 2026, at the age of 87 after a brief battle with cancer.

Memorial services for Byron Schulke will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Memorial Lutheran Church, located at 2228 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa, 50014.

Visitation will begin at the church at 10:00 AM. Private family interment will take place at Ames Municipal Cemetery.

He was born in Aurelia, Iowa, on July 22, 1938, and was second to youngest of 10 children born to Chas. and Delia (Paulson) Schulke. He earned his bachelor's degree at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, and worked toward a master's degree in mathematics at the School of Mines in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Byron met Beverly Pollman in Rapid City, and they were married in 1963 in Bridgewater, South Dakota. They moved to Ames, Iowa, where Byron worked at Iowa State University in information technology for 40 years. They had two children, Kevin and Kathy. Byron retired as associate director of ADP in 2003. When not working, he enjoyed doing yard work and watching sporting events.

Byron is survived by his wife, Beverly (Pollman) Schulke, his son, Kevin Schulke, his daughter, Kathy (Richard) Irwin, and three brothers, James Schulke, Doug Schulke, and Dana Schulke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
