Jody Ann Logston, 46, of Ames, Iowa passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on March 28, 2026 at Mary Greeley Medical Center. She was born on January 8, 1980 to Ron and Jeanne Logston in Ames, Iowa. Jody attended Ames High School, graduating in 1998, and went on to earn her cosmetology degree at PCI Academy in 2000. Following her time as a stylist at JC Penney salon, Jody dedicated 20 years to McFarland Clinic in Ames as a receptionist in the neurology department.
Jody met her partner, Ronald (Kasan) Hutchinson in July 2000, and in June 2005, they welcomed their son Ronald (RJ) Anakin Hutchinson Jr. Jody enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family. She was an avid Iowa State Cyclones fan enjoying annual CyHawk tailgates with extended family, loved making memories fishing and camping at the family farm, and strolling through her favorite stores with RJ.
Jody is survived by her partner Kasan and son RJ Hutchinson of Ames, her parents Ron and Jeanne Logston of Ames, her sister Amy (Matt) Berger and nephews Dylan and Dawson of Ankeny, as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Rolland and Bonita Betts of Guthrie Center, and Robert and Elverean Logston of Ames. Jody was selfless, generous, hard working, and kind and had a contagious smile that she wore even in the hardest of times.
A celebration of life will be held in Jody's honor on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, and will be followed immediately by a short prayer service. Feel free to wear your favorite Cyclone gear, or pink and black as a tribute to Jody.
Picking a Rose from its garden will end its growth but for some reason its beauty and perfection compel you to take it. Jody is that Rose that God needed to take to observe her beauty and perfection in Heaven. May the Lord forever nurture her spirit.
Had the pleasure of working with Jody during my visits with neurology for her entire time at McFarland. Jody radiated kindness, goodness, professionalism, and dedicated work. She adored her family and spoke so lovingly of RJ. Jody was always so generous & helpful. May the family find comfort and joy remembering all their beloved memories of Jody. Blessings to Jody’s family.
Ron and Jeanne,

Jody and I worked together for nearly 20 years, until I retired from neurology in 2024. She was always a great receptionist, making appointments for thousands of neurology patients with appropriate instructions and empathy. She was very conscientious, careful, and friendly to all. For all the neurologists she worked with we are very grateful for all the help she gave our patients and providers. It is hard to believe she is gone too soon, and our condolences go to her family and friends.
My name is Tally Bell I got the pleasure of working with Jody in Neurology and we had a great time! I was so sad to hear this news. She always spoke of her son and what magnificent love she had for him. She was an amazing human being! Prayers to her son and family! God Bless
Jody was the receptionist that trained me when I first started at the clinic. She taught me everything I know about serving patients and I will always remember how amazing she was to her doctors, staff, and patients.
