Wayne Robert Moore, age 92, died Sunday January 29, 2012, at the Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames, Iowa. A private burial service was held, February 3, 2012 at Iowa State University Cemetery. A. celebration of Wayne's life will take place from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at The Gateway Center in Ames with a short presentation at 2:30 p.m. .
Wayne was born February 5, 1919 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to Scott and Belle Moore. After graduating from Iowa State University in 1942, Wayne joined the U.S. Military and served in both World War II and the Korean War. After the war, Wayne returned to Ames and to Iowa State University, where he served both the University and the community in many capacities for over 60 years. Wayne held the position of Vice President for Business and Finance at Iowa State University for 18 years and then served as Vice President for Planning and Development for another 5 years.
Wayne married Catherine Mary Hansuld on June 25, 1955, in Ontario, Canada. The two were married for over 40 years until Mary's death in1998. Wayne and Mary had three children, Ginevera, Michael, and Donna. Wayne is survived by his sister, Sheila Pomeroy of Collinsville, Illinois, his children and their spouses, Ginevera Moore and Mark McGrory of Leawood, Kansas, Michael and Laura Moore of Douglasville, Georgia and Donna Moore and Jim Richardson of Webster City, Iowa. Wayne is also survived by his grandson Matthew McGrory of Leawood, Kansas, four step grandchildren, Alex Knox of Douglasville, Georgia, Jessica Knox of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Andrew Richardson of Muncie, Indiana, and Adam Richardson of Webster City, Iowa, six step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Mary, brother Keith Moore, and his parents Scott and Belle Moore. Wayne's kind heart and generous spirit will be greatly missed.
Memorials may be directed to ISU Foundation Research Park and Wesley Hospice Care.

Ginny, Michael and Donna,
Your dad was such a great guy--respected by all who met him, he was a kind and gentle man, and such a great supporter of all things ISU. I remember, fondly, him playing the piano when our folks would get together, singing show-tunes, such a contrast to his serious, business side. I stopped by to visit him a few years ago, and though his body had weakened, his mind was so sharp--I know you all benefited from his wit and his wisdom, all these years. My thoughts are with you--he will be missed, but I believe the legacy he left behind, will help to ease your sorrow.

Dear Ginny, Michael and Donna, Its been a long time since those wonderful ski trips to Snowmass in the 1970s with your family, but we shall never forget them.
Both your mother and your dad played a significant role in our lives particularly our career development. We deeply appreciated their generous attention and nuture.
Please accept our sincere sympathy. We have lost all four of our parents and know that no matter how adult one becomes, the passing of a parent is so sad.

You have my sincere sympathy. Wayne Moore was my colleague and friend for many years. We were vice presidents at ISU during the same period (Wayne - business, me- academic affairs). He was greatly respected and admired as a highly competent professional. He was a friend to everyone who knew him.
Wayne left his mark on ISU in countless ways - an invaluable member of the university faculty and administration.
He loved to talk about Mary and his children. He was so very proud of all of you. And, you will always be proud of him.
I will miss him.
