Robert Arlan LaGrange age 77, a lifelong Ames resident died Sunday Sept. 27, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A 9:30 am Wednesday, Sept. 30 committal of his cremated human remains will be in Garden of Memories Section at the Ames Municipal Cemetery followed by an 11:00 am Celebration of Life Memorial service at Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames.
Robert was born June 25, 1932, in Ames, Iowa the son of DeForest D. and Josephine (Haleen) LaGrange.
He graduated from Ames High School and then went to Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO before entering the US Army. On April 8, 1967 he married Jeanette Peterson in Ames, Iowa. He started in the insurance business with his father with the Washington National Company and retired with Interstate Assurance Company, Des Moines. He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette, and a son Darren D. both of Ames, a daughter Laura (Matt) Miller and two grandchildren Brytni and Mackenzie all of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
