Steven Lee Stokke age 63, of Ames, Iowa passed away June 11, 2019 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. Burial will take place Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 3:00p.m. at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Steven was born on December 29, 1955 in Ames, Iowa the son of Delmar Stokke and Virginia (Stokke) Anderson. He graduated from Ames High School in 1974 & United Electronics School. Steven enjoyed music and was a prodigy leaning to play base, flute and keyboard after mastering the guitar before graduating high school. He was an avid reader whether it be the daily newspapers, guitar & science magazines, or electronic books. He had a zest for trivia when quizzing his siblings, and even sharing with a caretaker a memorable tidbit about the band Deep Purple. His belief in Christ and God was strong and he found peace in reading his bible. He was kind, loving and caring which was apparent in his desire to have everyone get along. His smile could be infectious, and he enjoyed a simple life, looking forward to his day-to-day routine.
Steven is survived by his mother, Virginia (Carl Anderson); Sisters, Susan (Rod Crowe), Sherri (Steve Paul), & Sandi (Thomas Hinders Jr.) Stepsister Deborah (Keith Swanson), and Stepbrother David Anderson, 4 nieces, 2 nephews, 1 great niece and 1 great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father Delmar Stokke, his grandparents Ida Viola & Lyle Peterson, Llewela Ballard & Sam Stokke, his stepsister Barb Anderson, and his aunts Sharon Hitchcock & Martha Clayberg.

Ginny, so very sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers.
Ginny, I am sorry for your loss. I will be praying for your strength in the days to come.
Ginny, so sorry to hear of the loss of your son. I will keep you all in my prayers.
Steve was my "boyfriend" in 8th grade at Central Jr. High. (To the extent that we had boyfriends. I'm not even sure whether he thought he was my boyfriend!) I always thought he was handsome, and he always said hi to me in the halls at Ames High. I did not know him well, but reading his obituary, I could picture him exactly the way he was described. I am so very sorry for your loss. I would like to come to the burial but am not sure whether I can make it. I am working that day, and might not be able to get away. Blessings to your family in your time of grieving.
So sorry for your loss.
