She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Adelyn Alsager and Hannah Gordon, and an infant brother, Stanley Thompson.

Hazel is survived by her daughter, Pauline (Kirk) Geist of Gilbert, son, Wayne (Kathy) Henryson of Ames, and grandchildren, Kristen Geist (Jared Snethen), Mackenzie (Mark) Groteluschen, Kelly (Chris) Johnson, and Mollie (Paul) Odendahl. Pauline and Wayne, my sympathies to you and your families. Your mom was such a wonderful lady and a treasured friend to my mom, Wanda Roney. I am sure those two are reunited in Heaven and visiting with each other once again. Keeping you all in my prayers. Lori Madsen

Hazel was a wonderful volunteer here at Mary Greeley Medical Center ICCU desk for several years. My Fridays were always brightened when I stopped down to see here each week. What a gem she was and I know she will be missed by many. I send my prayers of peace of comfort to her family and friends. ~ Wendy DeMatto, Volunteer Coordinator, Mary Greeley Medical Center

CandlePauline/Kirk, Wayne/Kathy and families: The halls of Bickford will never fee the same without her there. Her laughter, smile and warm heart will forever remind all of how life is so precious. Hazel became my "other Mama", "Mama Love", "Mama Fancy" and most importantly someone that my life was so Blessed to have known. Thank you so much Pauline and Wayne for sharing her with all of us at Bickford. My life was greatly enriched the day she walked in...

Pauline and Wayne, I offer my sympathies to all of you. Hazel was one in a million and always treated me with kindness and affection. I treasure my childhood memories of time spent with your family, as well as the chats with Hazel about grandchildren, Story City happenings, and events at Hilton and the mall. Wishing all of you a sense of peace at this difficult time. With love, Denise Carlson
