Nada Louise McClean, 98, died Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Northcrest Community in Ames Iowa. Nada was born November 7th, 1921, in rural Jasper County. Daughter of Vern and Bertha Klopping, she was the oldest of two children.

Nada graduated from Newton High School in 1939 and went on to attain an associate degree from AIB in Des Moines. She had employment with several large law firms during World War 2. She met and later Married Jim McClean on January 27th, 1945. The couple moved to Ames in 1949 where Jim opened an optometric practice. As Jim's business expanded, she became the office manager for the practice. She volunteered for over 40 years for local elections and enjoyed her volunteer work at Mary Greeley Hospital. Nada was also a member of Beta Tau Delta and became involved with Beauty for All Seasons. She enjoyed dancing with Jim, her family, and was a member of numerous bridge clubs and the Ames Golf and Country Club.

Nada always had a strong faith. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and later First Evangelical Free Church of Ames. She was highly active in many bible studies throughout the years. Nada was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. We will think of her often, miss her always and love her forever.

A private memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday, July 8th, at her gravesite in Newton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Northcrest Community Center in Ames.

Nada is survived by her two children, Gale (Art) Ehlers of Bettendorf and Dan McClean of Dyersville; her sister Verna Lou (Jerry) Power; and her two grandchildren, Matt McClean of Davenport and Michael McClean of Iowa City. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dr. James R. McClean.

I am so sorry to learn of Nada's passing. She was a good friend of my mom and dad, Jean and Dick Crovisier. She was always so friendly and welcoming to my sisters and me, even inviting us to stay at their home when we were in town during the time when my dad was dying. She was so generous and interested in us. I always enjoyed talking with her or having lunch with her and my mom. She was a wonderful and kind Christian woman, and she will be missed.

Gale and Dan, Sam sent me a copy of this obituary this evening. I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom last Sunday. I have so many lovely memories of her from my childhood. She was always graceful, elegant, and very kind to me. She and your dad were important in my life and I will remember them for all of mine. I send my love and condolences to you both. I hope you are well and know that I am thinking of you and your families. Most sincerely, Kathy

Dear Family of Nada McClean. Jim and Nada were friends of ours for many years and more personally they were a great part of our Small Group Bible Study. She has not known who we were for a long time now. I (Lucille) was given Nada's mothers childhood doll by Nada when they were moving into Northcrest, which I considered one of the most precious gifts she could have given to me. I still have the doll. If someone in your famiy would like to have this doll as a remembrance now that Nada has passed, please feel free to contact me, as I would completely understand the sentiment it may hold in your family.

To Gale and Dan, and remaining family members, we wish to share our deepest sympathy on the homegoing of your mother. She lived a good, full life and will be well remembered by us as lovely, fun loving , devoted to Christ and so very much in love with her husband, Jim. We are certain she will be missed and. our prayers go out to you.
