Minnie Coree, 66, of Colo, Iowa passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., with an 11:00 a.m. memorial service, Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa. Masks and social distancing are required due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Minnie Uhrhammer was born on August 5, 1954, in Gary, Indiana to Charles and Dorothy (Loding) Uhrhammer. She was a graduate of Crown Point High School. She attended Vincennes University and transferred to Purdue University graduating with a BS in Civil Engineering. At Purdue, Minnie met and married the love of her life, Brian Coree. From this union, three children were born: James, Andrew, and Amanda. About twenty years ago, Minnie had some health concerns and it quickly became known that not only was Brian a perfect match for her in their life partnership, but also as an organ donor when she needed a new kidney.

Her family describes Minnie as a sassy, fun, and full of love type of person. She enjoyed reading, traveling and was pretty crafty with yarn. Being a homebody at heart, she loved holidays and spending time with her family. Minnie never went anywhere without her famous bell necklace that tinkled when she moved. When you heard the sound of that necklace, you knew she was nearby. Minnie attended McCallsburg Presbyterian Church. She was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star (PWM), the White Shrine of Jerusalem (PWHP), and the Order of the Amaranth (PRM, PGRM). For 20 years, Minnie worked as Office Manager of the Asphalt Paving Association of Iowa.

Minnie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Brian Coree of Colo, IA; children, James (Kelsie) Coree of Williamsport, IN, Andrew (Sara) Coree of Collins, IA and Amanda Coree of Colo, IA; grandchildren, Dillan and Grayce Coree, Hannah and Hunter Clair, all of Collins, IA, Tristen Coree and Devin Mitchell of Colo, IA; siblings, John (Donna) Uhrhammer of Mountain Home, AR, Charles (Betty) Uhrhammer of Crown Point, IN, Dorothy Whittaker of Hammond, IN, and Carolyn Elam of Harrisburg, IL; sister-in-law, Dorothy Uhrhammer of Fort Wayne, IN; as well as many extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy; sister, Anna Adams; brother, Pete Uhrhammer; and beloved fur baby, General.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family at P.O. Box 291, Colo, IA 50056 or The Amaranth Diabetes Foundation.
