Burial will be after services at Story Memorial Gardens in Ames.

Marilyn was born on December 5, 1928 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Martin H. Mueller and Mabel Galle, the youngest of four children. These were happy years as Marilyn developed her deep faith and her life-long passion for music.

Marilyn graduated from Ames High School in 1946 and then attended Minnesota University and Cleveland Institute of Music studying harp. During this time, she auditioned and was awarded a scholarship to Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. She was privileged to study harp with world renowned Carlos Salzedo for five years while taking courses to complete her Bachelor of Music Degree from Curtis. Marilyn continued to share her enthusiasm for the harp by teaching at Philadelphia High School for Girls and privately.

Marilyn went on to University of Minnesota where she completed credits for a B.S. in Education and taught school in South St. Paul. She served as a dedicated organist and choir director at her father's church, Old Emanuel Lutheran Church in Inver Grove Heights.

Marilyn later moved back to Ames, and there met E.J. (Doc) Honsinger. They were married in 1967. Their years together were filled with much adventure and travel to the northern Minnesota Lakes and Canada. After Doc's passing in 1981, Marilyn remained in Story City and continued enjoying her many special relationships with family, friends, and neighbors in Iowa and Oregon.

Marilyn is survived by her brother Richard "Dick" Mueller of Hood River, Oregon and 13 nieces and nephews, 25 great nieces and nephews, and 21 great-great nieces and nephews. She enjoyed them all at family events throughout the year!

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Mabel Mueller, sister Dorothy Friedrich, brother Martin C. Mueller, nephew Ricky Mueller and her husband Elwin Honsinger.

Marilyn was such a wonderful lady. I was the last baby her husband delivered and the first birth she watched. She always said I was special but I think she is the special one. Thanks for the beautiful conversations over the years.
