Arlyn Leroy Hansen, 45, of Story City, passed away on October 16, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics after a long fight. A public visitation will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021, from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. at Harvest Vineyard Church, 320 S 17th St, Ames, IA 50010. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021, at 10:30 at Harvest Vineyard Church, with a burial to follow at Story City Cemetery.

Arlyn was born on April 22, 1976, to Leroy and Sylvia (Elvebak) Hansen in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He attended Armstrong Ringsted High School and was a graduate of the class of 1994. After high school Arlyn attended Waldorf College, where he received an AA degree. He then attended the University of Northern Iowa. After transferring to Wartburg College, he graduated in 1999. He went on to Bethel Seminary, where he obtained a Masters, in Divinity. Arlyn met Sarah Stamp at UNI in the spring of 1998. They were married in Cedar Falls on July 18, 1999. Arlyn worked as a youth pastor for a few years. He also worked at Riverside Bible Camp, Syngenta, and most recently he enjoyed his job for Oakland Corporation in Story City.

Arlyn enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved playing music on the drums, piano, guitar, or bass guitar. It was his joy to be involved on the church's worship team, as well as lead different small groups. He loved to listen and help with anything, especially his friends' and family's technology needs. He also enjoyed watching sports with his family members willing to watch with him. He could tell you what was happening with the Hawkeyes or Bears. He was a faithful and involved husband and father, willing to do anything for his family. He made pancakes with his kids most Saturday mornings, played board games, was the "tickle monster" during the bedtime routine, and loved to play outside with his four kids. Most recently, he enjoyed teaching his children on different instruments, as well as coaching different sports teams for his kids. When he had the chance, he enjoyed golfing, fantasy football, and watching sports while eating wings with friends. Recently, he did major renovations to the family home in the kitchen and 2 bathrooms. He was a patient and committed husband and father, willing to learn any new skill to improve the home or fix a problem.

Left to cherish Arlyn's memory is his wife, Sarah; children, Grace Louisa (12), Isaac Leroy (10 ½), Amarah Elizabeth (8 ½), and Annaka Kate (5); mother, Sylvia Hansen; sister, Karena Hansen; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kevin and Marcia Stamp; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Hannah (Stamp) Biederman (nephews Braydon and Noah, niece Haley); brother-in-law and sister-in-law Caleb and Amanda Stamp (nephews Joshua and Benjamin, nieces Eliza and Tess); along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Arlyn is preceded in death by his father, Leroy Hansen; 2 infant siblings; grandparents; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at a later date once a fund has been established.

Arlyn will be missed greatly. Although I didn't have the chance to meet him personally, Arlyn was someone I relied on to assist with IT tasks for our Oakland software. His calm, caring demeanor always helped to settle my frantic SOS support calls and over time I learned more about him as a person as he shared small talk regarding his love for his family, faith, and hobbies. My thoughts and prayers are with his family , friends, and the Oakland team. --Kirty @ Eastland Feed

The world got a little bit darker. Although I never knew Arlyn personally, I knew how much of figure he was at Harvest. He will be missed greatly.

We were classmates and lived in the same neighborhood our entire lives! Arlyn was talented with any thing to do with music. Lots of prayers to his family!

Arlyn has a lot of fond memories for me. When we were growing up and singing in Jr choir. Arlyn and I both tried to be in front row singing out hearts out. We then both went to Waldorf and UNI. Most of all I remember his smile and kindness. I always enjoyed catching up when we were back in Ringsted for whatever holiday at the same time. Take care we were all lucky to have him as part of our lives.
