LaVon Ann (Rosenstiel) Brown was born on September 15, 1925, to Loren E. Rosenstiel and Elsie E.M. (Falck) Rosenstiel. She attended school in Strawberry Point, IA before graduating from Independence, IA Schools. On December 4, 1942, she married Lyall E. Brown in Wickenburg, Arizona. After her husband's service in the US Airforce, they returned to Jesup, IA where Lyall was self-employed at Brown Implement Company. During that time, LaVon kept busy raising four children, working in Waterloo and volunteering in her church. In 1965, they sold their business and moved to Ames. LaVon worked at Montgomery Ward in the credit department, then moved to Production Credit until her retirement.

After her husband passed, she became an active member and officer of Ames Business Women's Club and later of Ames' Women's Club where she remained an active member until her death. She volunteered at Northwood Elementary, Ames Public Library, Special Olympics and worked hard to raise money for young women scholarships. Her family and grandchildren were the most important thing to her. She supported them in all their sports and activities, attending as many activities as she could. She loved to quilt and craft and enjoyed teaching these skills to her great-grandchildren. She and Lyall shared their love of travel and camping with their grandchildren with trips throughout Iowa as we as many other states.

She leaves a legacy of four children, nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Peterson, Polk City, IA; Lou Ann Keigley (Paul), Port St. Joe, Fl; Barb Sailsbury (Paul), Ames. Her son Jack (Mary Kay), Spokane WA, passed in 2013.
Grandchildren Deb Peterson-Market (Doug), Natalie Peterson-Rolow (Tim), Chris Peterson (Dana), Aaron Peterson (Julie), Jason Brown (Shannon), Chad Sailsbury (Becky), Nic Sailsbury (Sara), Shane Keigley (Dawn), Shantel Keigley-Hockett (James).
Great Grandchildren: Reghan Markert-Deck (Patrick), Sydney & Cameron Markert; Georgia & Elliot Rolow; Carlee, Cade & Kenzy Peterson; Tanner Peterson (Alex), Carson, Maddie, & Chloe Peterson; Skye & Brynnley Sailsbury; Rolland, Jonathan & Lincoln Sailsbury; Katie & Kelson Brown; Tyler & Traven Keigley.
Great-great Grandchild: August Deck.

I am so sad to hear of LaVon's passing. She was a kind, sweet, gentle, woman whom I have always admired. She was a wonderful Great Grandmother to my sons, Tyler and Traven Keigley.
Prayers and hugs to all of her family.
Julie Keigley

I have fond memories of your family in Jesup at church and school. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Karla Rigdon Wright on Mar 3, 2022

The Paul and Dar Rigdon family of Jesup shared many hours of friendship and laughter with the Lyall and LaVon Brown family. Our families grew up together. Lou, Barb and Brenda - we are sorry for your loss. You are on our hearts. Karla (Rigdon) Wright

Marianne Chalstrom (and daughter Anne) on Mar 1, 2022

We enjoyed LaVon through the years when she came to visit her daughter, Barb and husband Paul Salisbury. Barb and Paul were our next-door neighbors for at least 20 years. She was a very special lady indeed as her obituary shows, caring and serving others in many ways.
