Louise Yager 88, of Ames, passed away on June 27, 2022. Burial will be held in Audubon, Iowa, on Friday July 1, 2022, at Maple Grove Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, at First United Methodist Church, 516 Kellogg Avenue, Ames, Iowa, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church for continual projects.

Louise Hardie was born on May 9, 1934, the middle child of five. In 1937, Louise lost her father, Max Hardie, in a farm accident. The Hardie clan strongly protected each other growing up during the depression with a single mom, Thelma Stanley Hardie. Louise attended a one-room country school for three years and eventually graduated from Audubon High School in 1953. She met Lowell Yager, dated for four years, and married on April 27, 1956. Together Lowell and Louise raised three daughters in Atlantic, Clarion, and Ames, Iowa.

Louise worked as a stay-at-home mother, a school photographer, and a bookkeeper at Buck Dental to ensure her children graduated from college and earned advanced degrees.

Family grounded Louise's life. With Lowell they travelled the states and vacationed in Hawaii. Louise enjoyed playing cards, baking, family Christmases, and friends. On her last day with us, Louise played cribbage and enjoyed beating her husband and daughter. Louise also made sure a friend received flowers to help with her recovery. Louise is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lowell Yager; her daughters: Linda Richards, Carol Yager, and Susan Yager; her son-in-law, Ralph Richards; and her grandchildren, Emma and Patrick Fox.

Mr. Yager. I was one of your Voc-Ag students at Irwin, graduating in 1961, enjoyed having you as our FFA instructor. Sorry to hear of Louise's passing. If memory serves me correctly, I think you were a new teacher at that time. Also remember your attendance at our 50 th class reunion at Elk Horn in 2011. Feel free to Email me if you care to.

My name isMerlyn Winther. I graduated from Audubon High School in 1953, along with Louise (Louige) Hardie. Louise was a very pretty, black haired, girl and was a cheerleader, active in plays, and in girls' basketball. We both left Audubon and I only saw her at our 5-year class reunions. I am unable to attend the funeral. I will bow my head in prayer at 11:00 a.m.today.
