Paul was born December 15, 1957, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Patricia Hinkle and Donald Rowland.
Following his primary education, Paul graduated from Northwest Iowa Tech and built a career as an electrical lineman. In 1986, Paul and Barbara Buchele were married in Ames, Iowa. Together, the two made their home here to raise their family.
Paul never met a stranger-He enjoyed talking with and getting to know everyone he encountered. He was happiest when he was using his extensive list of skills to repair or build something for someone. Lately, Paul and Barb were enjoying cruising around central Iowa in his newly acquired MG convertible. Paul also was an accomplished musician. He loved drag racing and the blues! He and Austin loved to tinker with cars and he and Jesica loved to listen to the blues together! He was the most caring, selfless person you could ever hope to know.
He leaves his wife of 36 years, Barb; his children, Austin and Jesica; his father, Don; siblings, Wayne (Joyce), Doug and Bryan (Dian), Therese and many more extended family members and dear friends!
Barb, Just heard about Paul and my deepest sympathies—we were in grade school together and always had fun—loved Paul’s fun loving up beat personality! Prayers for you and your family—he was a great guy! From Ann Clore Moon

I will miss you Paul…. You made us all feel special! Roses always as we headed off to Sorority Convention. Answering all my goofy questions about my car!! Your family will continue to be loved by all of us. Rest In Peace my friend❤️🙏
As cousins growing up together we had some pretty fun times, cruising the square in Chariton in pauls old ford listening to hendrix blasting out foxy lady or going camping and fishing together or just hanging out.Thank you paul for all the fun times and lots of memories.Love you cousin.Jeff Cutts
As I recall, I only met you once at a family reunion. My son Jeremy and I were playing blues guitar does that belonged to you. You were one of those rear people with an incredible likability factor. Obviously, I liked you immediately. You were so accessible and easy to talk to. And I had sincerely hoped paths would cross again. That didn’t happen, but may we meet again one day beyond time in spirit somewhere down the road as time leaves its foot prints upon me. ~Michael Welch.
Sorry for the loss of your brother. Always remember the memories of being together.

Paul, you became my best friend over the past few years. We chatted quite a bit on our phone app, you helping me through some tough decisions. But we also had fun remembering our childhood and teen years together as a family. I’ll really miss those chats we had but will always think of the fun times we all had growing up. Love, Your Cuz, Kathy

I am so sorry to hear this. We grew up a couple blocks from the Rowland boys and always enjoyed hanging with them.
