Robert "Bob" Stehr, 83, passed away at Iowa Lutheran Hospital on August 8, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born in Boyer, Iowa on February 16, 1941, the son of Marvin and Dorothy (Bettin) Stehr. He graduated from Lake View Auburn High School in 1960. It was there he met the love of his life, Judy Kay Tjaden. They began their 60 years of marriage on December 28, 1963 in Wall Lake at Peace Lutheran Church. Together they had two children, Bradley Stehr of Ames, and Meribeth (Timothy) Grogan of Clive.
Bob spent over 30 years at Tjaden Oil, serving his customers and building relationships within the community. After retirement, he took his woodworking skills and started Bob's Jobs in Wall Lake. When it was time to hang up the tools, he and Judy decided to move to Ames in 2006. During the next 18 years, Bob would develop strong bonds within the community. He and Judy became members at Lutheran Church of Hope Ames. Bob enjoyed morning coffee with friends, golfing, fishing in Canada, or heading to ISU football games. Most of all, Bob loved spending time with his family. Bob's calming presence and deep belly laugh were a gift to all who knew him.
Bob will be dearly missed by his wife, Judy Stehr, his son, Brad Stehr, his daughter Meribeth (Tim) Grogan and grandsons, Noah, Wyatt, and Gino, two sisters, Kathy (Jim) Carroll, and Barb (Pete) Danhoff, numerous nieces and nephews, and a lifetime of close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Dorothy, and Brother, Doug Stehr.
