Ralph Daniel Yoder age 92, of Ames died at his home on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Green Hills Community in Ames. A gathering of friends and family will be 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, in Ames, Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. Thursday September 12th at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, Iowa.

Ralph Daniel Yoder was born on September 6, 1931, in Kalona, Iowa the son of Daniel and Elsie (Conrad) Yoder he graduated from Ollie, Iowa High School. He was inducted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After completing his military service, Ralph came to Iowa State University where he played football for a year. He also was on the Track and Field team where he finished 5th in the NCAA tournament in the discus. He married Gertrude (Trudy) Claire Boeyink on June 23, 1957. Ralph received his bachelor and doctorate degrees in Animal Science from Iowa State. He and Trudy settled in Fort Dodge, Iowa where he worked for Land O Lakes specializing in cattle feed production and nutrition. Following his retirement, Ralph and Trudy moved to Ames and settled in the Green Hills retirement community beginning in 2005.

Ralph is survived by his wife Trudy Yoder of Ames, his son Daniel (Jennifer) Yoder of Houston, his daughter, Kim (Duke) Higgins of Little River, South Carolina, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Yoder of Tonganoxie, Kansas. Grandchildren Andrea (Nicholas) Lamb, Amber (Jesse) Sheets, Kasey (Chance) Stephens, Patrick Higgins, Chris (Sarah) Yoder, Kelle (Joesph) Banda, and Michael (Celesta) Yoder, and 15 great grandchildren.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, son, Keith, grandsons, Brandon and Joel Yoder and 8 siblings.
