Dear Julie and Alice. I send my condolences and share my sympathy on the passing of your brother John. Although I never met you I knew your brother John and your parents Louie and Ora. So who am I. In June 1968 I moved to Page County and started work with your father on the Page County Soil Survey. Your Dad was a remarkable man and wonderful mentor for me. During my time in Page County I often visited your mom and dad at their farm. Following the 1968 field season I moved to Ames and started graduate studies at Iowa State. Your Dad visited me in Ames when he came to campus for state soil scientist meetings. After completing my graduate work at ISU I joined the Agronomy faculty until I retired. During my time with Agronomy Extension I would see and visit with John at meetings in Ames or across the state. I recall visiting with him in Cedar Rapids. I always enjoyed visiting with John and catching up on your mom and dad and both of you who I never met. Now I'm retired living in Michigan. Looking at John's photo on this site reminds me of Louie. Again, my condolences to you and your families. Gerald "Jerry" Miller
