Lee Anthony Davidson was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 13, 1942, to Flora and Curtis Davidson. He attended Memphis State University for undergraduate and graduate school before starting a career working for Cargill Grain as an international merchant. While assigned to a Des Moines office, he met Joyce Anderson (Stobee). They married on December 27,1972 and Lee became father to her three children--Christine (9), Lisa (7), and Micah (4). Lee and Joyce welcomed another daughter, Annalee, in 1974. The family lived in Des Moines, Omaha, Minneapolis, and Kansas City before Lee retired and moved with Joyce to Ames in 2003.

Lee was a lifetime church member and leader in his Presbyterian and Baptist churches. He was an avid lover of music and high-quality equipment to listen. He also loved model railroading and built elaborate layouts in his basement. He enjoyed woodworking and building fine cabinetry, found pleasure in photography with a dark room to develop his pictures, and he loved motorcycling, enjoying many multi-state trips with Joyce and friends.

While multiple health challenges in later years slowed Lee, he continued to have a strong spirit focused on living to be around his family even when he just quietly enjoyed watching them all interact. At Thanksgiving he was able to travel to Omaha where he saw 9 of his 11 great-grandchildren. His youngest great-granddaughter was born a week later. While in the hospital in December, he was grateful to meet Caden Micah O'Connor, his 3-month-old great-grandson, when Alexander O'Connor (Alyssa) made the journey from Kentucky prior to Lee's surgery.

Lee died peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines on December 28, 2024, with his wife and daughters surrounding him, reminding him of their love and faith. Lee is survived by his wife, Joyce, and daughters, Annalee O'Connor, Lisa (Peter) Drew, Christine (Paul) Cook, seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis (Dave) and Flo Davidson; son, Micah John Stobee Davidson; as well as a son, Mark Davidson, from his first marriage (Elsa) in Argentina.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Ames, 200 Lynn Ave, Ames, Iowa 50014, beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by lunch.

Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church of Ames.
