Robert Dryer, 96, passed away on February 5, 2025. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care (414 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa 50010) from 1-3:00 p.m. with a burial at Ames Municipal Cemetery to follow. Robert was born in Leon, Iowa to Ray and Mildred (Maynard) Dryer. Robert spent many years working for Lattimore Construction. He also owned and operated Dryer's Gems and Minerals, in Phoenix and Scottsdale, AZ. He was an avid antique collector, specifically of Police Badges in honor of his son Mark.
Left to cherish Robert's memory are his children: Sharon York (David) and Sallie Brantley; grandchildren: Christian York, Joshua York, Joel Brantley, Jasmin Cohen, 9 great-grandchildren, and his dear friend Vonda Rankin.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dee Irving, children: Mark (Sandra) Dryer and grandchild James C Brantly.
My dearest grandpa, you will truly be missed. We love you dearly. Until we meet again, kiss your babies that you are reunited with and watch over the rest of us while we cherish your memory.
Bob was such a great guy and will miss seeing him at the shows and having lunch with him at Story City.
Bobby you will be greatly missed. Thanks for being apart of our family we are Blessed to have had you in our lives and a part of our family. You were Vonda's best friend and thank you for the unconditional love you showed us over 30 years. We love and will miss you Bobby!
