Susan Carol Frank, 53, of Ames, IA passed away peacefully at home on February 10 due to natural causes. Susan was born in Sioux City, IA on February 27, 1971, and, within a few days of her birth, lovingly adopted by Glynn and Dagmar Frank of Ames, IA. A private funeral service will be held for immediate family. A memorial service to celebrate her life, open to all who wish to attend, will be scheduled for a later date. Details will be shared once finalized.
Susan graduated from Ames High School in 1989. She went on to earn her cosmetology license from PCI Academy and became a talented stylist, taking immense pride in making her clients feel beautiful and confident. Susan had a vibrant spirit and embraced life with laughter, jokes, singing, and dancing to her favorite tunes. A passionate and devoted fan of the Mavericks and Iowa State basketball, she rarely missed a game. Her warmth, kindness, and bubbly personality left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Susan's family was incredibly proud of her strength as she lived with mental illness and bravely conquered breast cancer. What they will cherish most is her unique way of seeing the world.
She was unapologetically herself, teaching those around her to embrace life's moments with joy. As her family navigates this loss, they hope she is remembered for her funny stories, contagious laugh, and loving heart-because that's the Susan they hold in their hearts.
Susan was predeceased by her brother, Glynn Scott Frank of Zearing, IA and sister-in-law Kim Frank of Vinton, IA. She is survived by two children, Jazlyn Davis (fiancée Preston Burja) of Ames, IA and Tony Davis of Waterloo, IA; her parents Glynn and Dagmar Frank of Ames, brother Todd Frank of Vinton, IA, and sister Tracy Frank (Chris Fielding) of Coventry, CT. Susan is also survived by nieces Taylor and Peyton Frank of Vinton, IA, Uncle and Aunt Earl and Dorothy Frank and cousins Lorelei MacDonald and John Frank of Mabou, Nova Scotia, Canada; special family Connie, Eric, and Kaylie Davis of Ames, IA; extended family and many friends.
Although Susan loved flowers, she would want her memory to make a difference. Memorials may be directed to programs that support breast cancer research or mental illness, such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
To Susan's family, I am sorry to hear of Susan's passing. Although I hadn't seen her in many years, I fondly remember her huge smile, which always made me smile, her fun presence (always) and her ability to always be happy. My thoughts are with you all.
I loved our Senior year and beyond friend. May you laugh and dance to 90’s R&B forever. Prayers to your children and family. Love Angie
