Jason Vernon Klaver passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 2, 2025 as the result of a seizure. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 11th from 4:00-7:00PM at Christ Community Church in Ames (5501 George Washington Carver Ave, Ames, IA 50010). A Celebration of Life will be held the next morning at the church at 10:30AM, followed by internment at Gilbert Cemetery in Gilbert, Iowa.

Jason was born on July 9, 1974 to Rick and Jennifer (Madsen) Klaver. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1993 and attended Iowa State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Agronomy. Jason enjoyed his time as a Cyclone, even though he may have spent more time partying than actually hitting the books - no one could shotgun a beer quite like he could in his younger years. Jason had a core group of buddies during his years at Iowa State, many of whom he was still in contact with today, although he would tell you without a doubt that his best friend during his young adult years was his sister, Kim. As he grew older Jason treasured the relationship he had with his brother, Adam. They spoke often and Jason frequently joked with his wife that he couldn't make any decisions, no matter how trivial, without consulting Adam whom he referred to as "the patriarch"

After college Jason began working at Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) as a scientist in their swine diagnostic lab. He later transitioned into IT and in 2019 was promoted to Principal Business Analyst heading the global company's Relics system. Jason was proud of the work he did at BI in the 23 years he was employed with the company and was recognized often for what he did. During his time at BI he traveled to various site locations throughout the United States and Germany. During his trips overseas Jason and a group of four BI travel buddies would tack additional vacation days onto the trips. Referring to their group as "Blitzkreig Tours" they explored various destinations throughout Europe, which Jason greatly enjoyed.

Jason met his future wife, Nicole, at a Halloween party in 2009 thrown by a BI coworker. The two were married on March 10, 2012 in Estes Park, Colorado and had two daughters, Claire Elyse and Natalie Maxine. Jason loved being a dad and watching his girls grow. Whether it was making them his special "Sunday Morning Breakfast", teaching them to crack an egg or ride their bikes, or taking them on hikes or practicing softball he loved his girls and would do anything for them. In the spring of 2022 Jason convinced his wife that their girls "needed" a dog and when the girls wanted to name her Shelby he quickly agreed (unbeknownst to them it was because he was naming their new puppy after the Shelby Mustang.) Jason would do anything to make his girls smile, even when times were rough. When his wife was going through cancer treatments last year and had to spend days at a time in the hospital, Jason made life at home fun even instituting "Daddy-Daughter Out to Eat Night" every Wednesday (which they later let Mom join in on once she was healthy enough to go). Jason had recently received a recognition at work and was given the option to choose a $100 gift card; however, rather than picking something for himself he opted to get two $50 Ulta Beauty gift cards, one for Claire and one for Natalie, and then went shopping just the three of them.

Left to cherish memories of Jason are his wife Nicole and young daughters Claire and Natalie; parents Rick & Jennifer Klaver; siblings Adam Klaver and Kimberly (Pete) Luft and their families; parents-in-law Mike & Sandy Jones; brothers-in-law Chase (Megan) Jones, and Chance (Emma) Jones and their families, as well as many extended family members and friends. Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents Fred & Velma Klaver and Vernon & Maxine Madsen as well as sister-in-law, Michelle Jones.

Memorials may be given to the family for the college education of his daughters.

I was so sad to see this. I worked with Jason at Boehringer for several year before I retired. He was so good at his job - he went above and beyond with IT support, he was patient, and he was always upbeat and fun with a bit of a sly sense of humor. He adored his daughters and always had great photos to share. Healing thoughts and prayers to the family.
