Patricia "Pat" Geraldine Post, 95, of Ames passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday,
April 11, 2025, at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Visitation is Saturday, April 26th at 12:00 pm, with Mass to follow at 1:00 pm, at St. Cecilia's
Catholic Church, 2900 Hoover Ave. A private burial will take place at Ames Municipal
Cemetery.

Patricia and her twin sister, Zola, were born on October 18, 1929, in Waukesha, Wisconsin
to Earl and Mary (Thompson) Grant. She grew up in Rockford, Illinois, graduating from West
High School. Pat graduated from Whitewater State Teaching College, and it is there where
she caught the eye of Robert E. Post, who saw her in the stands at a track meet. Pat and
Robert married October 27, 1951, in Rockford. Following their wedding, Pat taught
elementary school for a few years before they moved to Ames, Iowa, in 1959 for her
husband's education at Iowa State University. In Ames, Pat was active with the Electrical
Engineering Department women's club and as a longtime parishioner at St. Thomas
Aquinas Catholic Church. As a mother of four girls, Pat was very active in their lives, and
worked as a para-educator at Crawford Elementary School. Pat cherished her many friends
and enjoyed giving back to the Ames community by volunteering for organizations including
Mary Greeley Medical Center, the United Way, Meals on Wheels, and Reiman Gardens -
where her love of gardening flourished.

Survivors include her four daughters: Kathleen Fowles (Mike) of Urbandale, Iowa; Debra
Carpenter (Tom) of Henderson, Nevada; Julie Kolker (Joel) of Clear Lake, Iowa; and Sarah
Handlos (Chris) of Georgetown, Texas. Pat delighted in her nine grandchildren: Ben Fowles
(Keyea); Matt Fowles (Amanda); Stephen Carpenter (Chasity); Adam Carpenter (Sadie);
Allie Cupp (Kyle); Jake Kolker (Kristin Watson); Patrick Kolker (Sarah Floden); Timothy
Handlos; Emma Baluesek (Cale) as well as her 15 great-grandchildren: Hannah and Holden
Fowles; Grady, Braylin and Landry Fowles; Kendall and Katelyn Carpenter; Hailey and
Natalie Carpenter; Alex, Annie and Katie Cupp; Jaden and Isiah Kolker; and June Kolker.

She is preceded in death by her parents Mary and Earl, her loving husband Robert in 1998,
and her twin sister Zola Rees in 2001.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) and the
Parkinson's Foundation (Parkinson.org), which meant so much over the years to Pat and
her family.
