Richard "Kim" Gross (75), of Ames, passed away on May 14, 2025.

Kim was born in Springfield, Illinois on August 2, 1949. His parents were Edgar Gross and Marjorie (Kohlbecker) Gross. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1967. He then attended Iowa State University
From 1967 until he graduated in 1971. His major at Iowa State University was Institution Management.

From 1971 to 1972, Kim worked as an Assistant Manager at the Wakonda Golf Club in Des Moines, Iowa. From 1972 to 1973, he was the Club House Manager at the Boone, Iowa Golf and Country Club. From 1974 to 2000, he was a member of
the Iowa State University Department of Residence Dining Services. For several years he was an Assistant Food Manager at Wallace Wilson Dining Service, serving meals to 1200 Residence Hall Students and also providing meal service to the Iowa State University Athletic Training Table. He then became the Assistant Manager at the Dining Services Food Stores facility where he was in charge of the Meat Shop, purchasing all meat and cheese products for the six Dining Service Operations on Campus and many catering activities.

Kim was an ardent supporter of Iowa State University athletics, especially Men's Football and Basketball, attending all the home games. He was a member of the Iowa State University Tennis team while attending Iowa State University. He loved to fish, and his favorite spot was at Bow Narrows Camp in Red Lake, Ontario, Canada. Kim and friends would go fishing at least once, if not twice, a year. Kim also enjoyed golf, racquet ball, tennis, snow skiing, ping pong, shuffleboard and dining out with friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Ames Cemetery, on a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, Kim requested that a memorial contribution be made to the Iowa State University Foundation, a donation to the ISU Athletic Office, 2505 University Blvd, Ames, IA 50010
