Debbie Lee (Matheason) Cornelius, 65, of Story City, passed away in the comfort of her home with family by her side on Thursday, July 11, 2025.
Debbie was born on October 16, 1959 to Kenneth and Georgette Matheason in Story City, Iowa. She graduated from Roland-Story High School in 1978. Debbie married Steven Donald Cornelius on October 11, 1980. To this union, two children were born: Nathan Lance (1981) and Tiffany Nicole (1982).
Debbie is survived by her husband of 44 years, Steven Cornelius of Story City, IA; son Nathan (Mindy) Cornelius of Ames, IA; daughter Tiffany (Eric) Lorenzen of Iowa Falls, IA; grandchildren Sofia, Gracelyn, Parker, and Samuel Cornelius and Penelope, Margot, and Sylvia Lorenzen; mom Georgette Matheason of Story City, IA; sister Vicki (Loren) Grove of Story City, IA; sister Cathy (Greg) Gerjets of Story City, IA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Dad, Kenneth Matheason and nephews Chad Hill and Garry Gerjets.
A private family burial is planned. Debbie will be laid to rest at Center Cemetery.
