Denny "Butch" Hansen age 65 of Ames , formerly of Des Moines , died Saturday, Nov . 29, at his home . A gathering of friends and family will be 6:00 -- 8:00 PM Wed., Dec. 3 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way in Ames with a Celebration of Denny's life at 11:00 AM Thursday, Dec. 4, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care with a 3:00 PM Committal Graveside Service at Newton Union Cemetery, Newton, Iowa.
Denny was born December 9, 1942 in Humboldt, Iowa , the son of Denison L. and Sylvia P. (Gorden) Hansen.
He graduated from Humboldt High School and AIB in Des Moines . He married Judith A. Young on Jan . 25, 1964 in Osage, Iowa. She preceded him in death on May 30, 1981. He married Diane R. Cross on Jan. 18, 1986, in Newton. Denny was employed as a sales manager for King Loan, Newton Manufacturing Company and Gold Bond . During his retirement years , Denny delivered flowers for Bill Doran Company of Des Moines , retiring in 2007. Denny enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren, golfing, gardening, camping, Iowa State Cyclones and Minnesota Vikings. Denny was involved with Elks Lodge #1270 of Newton, and Newton Lodge #59 A.F. & A.M. of Newton.
Denny is survived by his wife, Diane Hansen of Ames, daughters and sons - in - law, Sherri and Gregg Gray of Ames, Lori and Rick Berning of Plymouth, MN, step - son Matt Milligan of Baxter and step - daughter and husband Andrea and Aaron Parker of N. Attleboro , MA, sister, Bonnie and Dennis Macumber Palatine, IL, brother, Terry and Shawn Hansen Nisswa, MN , and beloved grandchildren, Shaun, Jessica and Dalton Howerton, Judy, Josh, and Drew Berning.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Judy.
