Donald L. Ellsworth age 83 a longtime Ames resident died May 29, 2008 at his home. A Gathering of Friends and family will be 4:00 - 6:00 Tuesday Jun 3, 2008 for Don Ellsworth at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way Ames.
Don was born February 7, 1925 in Ames the son of Edward and Gertrude (Perry) Ellsworth. He married Bernice Ball on July 20, 1962 in Ames Iowa. Don was employed by the City of Ames for over 50 years working as a heavy equipment operator in the street department. He enjoyed raising and training homing pigeons for several years, fishing, hunting, coffee at HyVee in the morning, and Heartland Senior Services lunches and music jam sessions.
Don is survived by his wife Bernice of Ames, children Leah (Larry) Sorenson of Ames,
Peggy Bryant of Elizabethtown, KY; Perry (Balinda) Ellsworth of Ames, Jeff (Angi) Ellsworth of Boone, eight grandchildren, Mark, Mike, and Matt Sorenson of Ames, Mallory Norton Elizabethtown, KY; Shelbey and Devin Ellsworth of Ames and Dani and Emma Ellsworth of Boone, brother, Edward Ellsworth New York, and sister Arlene Vaughn Grinnell.
In Lieu of flowers Memorials may be directed to Children and Families of Iowa.
