Emory Earl Cox, 82, of Ames, Iowa went to be with the lord on May 1, 2008. He was the son of Emory Fredrick Cox and Metha Pearl Roberson. He was born on October 8, 1925 at Marshalltown, Iowa. He was a graduate of Marshalltown High School and served for 2 ½ years in the Navy during World War II. Most of his working career he was a buyer for plumbing and heating wholesale companies. He retired from True Value Hardware in 1993 and moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas for 15 years, recently moving back to Iowa.
He was a 32 degree Mason and Past Master of Southgate Masonic Lodge #647 and Moingona Lodge #633 in Des Moines, IA: Past Patron DeNova Chapter O.E.S., Des Moines, IA and Bentonville Chapter #295, Bentonville, AR...
He is survived by his wife Mildred, Two sons, David E. Cox and wife Elizabeth of Ames, IA; Kenneth D. Cox and his wife Sally of Coppell, TX; one daughter Jeanne Marie Runyon and her husband Ernie of North Richland Hills, TX; seven Grandchildren, Melissa Egeland, Nicholas Runyon, Keith Runyon, Pamela Jensen, Melanie Cox, Michael Cox, and Jarrod Cox and two Great Grandsons, Caleb Jensen and Gavin Egeland.
Visitation will be held at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames, IA May 4th from two to four p.m. A Masonic service will be held at four p.m. A Masonic service will be held at four p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mary Greeley Foundation, Israel Family Hospice House 1111 Duff Ave. Ames, Iowa 50010.
Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
