Elsie Marie Taylor Sloniger age 80, a longtime rural Cambridge resident died at her home on Wed. Feb. 6, 2008. A visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Sun. Feb. 10, 2008, with the family present from 4-7, followed by an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 7 p.m. at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care in Ames with an 11:00 a.m. funeral service Mon. Feb. 11, 2008, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care. Burial will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Elsie Marie was born September 4, 1927, in Ames, Iowa the daughter of James N. and Elsie Ann (Davis) Taylor. Elsie Marie graduated from Ames High School. She married V. Allen Sloniger on August 22, 1948, in Ames. Elsie Marie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nevada, and was a 50 year member of Order of The Eastern Star Ankeny-New Hope Chapter # 513 of Ankeny. Elsie Marie loved her family, friends, flowers and enjoyed baking cookies.
Elsie is survived by her husband V. Allen Sloniger of Cambridge; daughter Mary Jo (Philip E.) Fitzgerald of Muscatine; three sons, Charles A. (Joyce) Sloniger of Cambridge, Max A. (Judy) Sloniger of Livonia, MO, Mark A. (Kris) Sloniger of Nevada; grandchildren: Jennifer (Eric) Peterson, Daniel (Brianne) Fitzgerald, Kathleen (Todd) Fitzgerald, Gregg (Maggie) Sloniger, Melissa Sloniger, Sarah Sloniger, Rebecca (Dan) Graff, Roxanne (Jeff) Pieters, Max A. Sloniger II; and 5 great grandchildren.
Elsie Marie was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Raymond Taylor, Kenneth Taylor, and Ronald Taylor; and two grandsons: Matthew Karl Sloniger and James Eric Fitzgerald.
