I REMEMBER ALICE MORRISSEY
I met Alice for first time when I was working for the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) in Ames. She had already retired and she was visiting old friends at the IDOT. One my office mates introduced me to Alice. In my conversation with her I found out she had relatives by the name Morrissey that in the 1920s lived in the same farm house that I had grown up in! Apparently she had visited this Morrissey family near the town of Jordan a number a number of times as a young girl. She asked about the old farm house and I told her that I now owned it. I gave her an aerial photo taken in the 1940s of the farmstead. She seemed happy with that old photo.
Some times when I am at my farmstead, I think about Alice as a young girl playing with the other kids of a large family that lived there and the good times they all must have had!
