I want to offer my sincere condolences to Irene and the entire family. Boyd and I were good friends in Franklin Community School, college and beyond. We had a common interest in sports, participatory and otherwise. For some reason we decided it would be a good idea to be co-student managers of the high school boys basketball team for a couple of years. We had a fun time in our social activities. In college we traded barbs about his Iowa State Cyclones and my University of Iowa Hawkeyes. Boyd was a fine person who will be missed by the many who knew him.
I am so very sorry to learn of Boyd's death. Along with his wife Irene, he has been a dedicated RSVP volunteer for more than 6 years, helping at MGMC and delivering countless meals to homebound seniors in Story County. Our entire staff send our deepest sympathies to Irene and the rest of the Boyd family. Kalen Petersen
Our condolences to the Dohrmann family. We always enjoyed our visits at the Iowa State Fair. Prayers being sent to all of you.

I grew up as a neighbor to Boyd and have fond memories of working for him as a teenager with the rest of my school buddies baling hay, picking up rocks or helping with his pigs.. I remember his sense of humor and his strong passion for ISU. He was a good neighbor and a great family man- he will be missed by all!

Condolences to all of Boyd's family. Boyd and I were close friends during our time growing up at CAL ( then Franklin). We shared an interest in sports and in the raising of livestock. We both were on 4-H and ISU livestock judging teams together. I have many very pleasant memories of my times with Boyd. He will be missed.
So sorry to hear of Boyd's passing and my sincere condolences to your family! I always appreciated the support the Dohrmann family gave me during my teaching & coaching days at CAL. I also appreciated reconnecting with Boyd and Irene as they sat in front of me at the ISU women's basketball games for the last several years. Prayers for your family as you mourn the loss of Boyd!
