Dorothy Witcraft's Obituary
Dorothy Maxine Witcraft, 94, of Fort Dodge and currently of Story City, passed away in her sleep at Timberland Village Assisted Living in Story City, on July 12, 2008. A graveside service and burial will be at Cedar Cemetery, Fonda, Iowa at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Dorothy was born May 26, 1914 on a farm near Palmer, Iowa the second of five daughters to Rufus Pleasant and Ruby Mary (Funk) Bowers. She graduated from Fonda High School in 1931 and completed additional classes to teach country school. She married James Edwin Witcraft June 1, 1936, and they resided in Fort Dodge, Iowa where Jim had a beauty shop in their home. Dorothy worked for the Boston Store and at the Warden Hotel. She retired at the age of 70 from Friendship Haven. She was a member of Epworth Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Roma and husband Jim Jarvis of Ames, Linda and husband Gary Crouse of Mt Vernon, Ill and Jim Witcraft of Denver, Iowa; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim and her four sisters, Verda, Violet, Ardith and Juanita. Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
