Ellen Sue Strand, age 73, passed away on December 20, 2013 at Israel Family Hospice House. A memorial service will be Sunday, May 18th, 2014 at First United Methodist in Ames with burial at Ames Municipal Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, James Strand of Ames; daughter, Virginia Heard of Des Moines; son, Paul Strand of Perry; her mother, Joyce Frederiksen of Ankeny; 2 brothers, Gary Frederiksen of Council Bluffs and Dennis Frederiksen of Urbandale; 1 sister, Sherry Lydens of Altoona; 2 twin grandsons, Theodore Strand of Johnston and Tyler Strand of Des Moines.
