My heart felt sympathies and prayers go out to Jon's family.
I remember Jon Edward from Memphis when he was stationed at Millington Marine and Naval Base, in 1968. He was a handsome young man, with happy blue eyes, from Claire, Iowa and I was a Rebel from Shiloh, TN, who lived and believed in fate. I remembered him all of my life, from Memphis to his tour of duty at New River Air Station in Jacksonville, NC. I remember all of it, even when he sent me home on a Greyhound bus, I watched his car till I saw it no more. All in the deep snow of winter.
It is my sincerest hope that he attained what he sought and lived a long and happy family life.
