A wonderful woman and friend at Ames UCC. My husband, James, and I were very fond of both Julia and Ken.

I was pregnant the day they were married at the church. She said with foresight, "You 're not having twins, are you?" "Oh, no," I replied. "If we do we will give one to you--you would be good parents." The joke was, of course, on the Whitakers and the transaction was never made. It was a warm bond between us from that day forward. A wonderful memory.
