A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church (610 15th St, Ames, IA 50010) with a funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Online condolences may be directed to: www.grandonfuneralandcremationcare.com The daughter of Al and Tanny Latuska, Kristine was born on October 29, 1966, at University Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. She was 2 ½ years old when she and her parents and brother moved to Ames, Iowa where she attended school from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 1985. At age 14 she began working for her Dad at Randall Foods, until she left for college in Iowa Falls. After one year, she returned to Ames and enrolled in Bernel's Beauty School, graduating in 1988. She married Charles Duane Ellis on June 11, 1988. There were no children. Kris was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was confirmed, was active in the church youth group, and was married. Kris was a grocery checker for Cub Foods and Dahl's and went to TJ Maxx in 2013. She loved her job there and all the other employees she worked with. Kris was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her father, Al; parents-in-law, Charley and Evelyn Ellis; and brothers-in-law, Jeff and, Nyno Ellis. She is survived by her mother, Tanny; her brother Ken (Sandy); nephews Ryan and Matthew; her "sister" Becky Jackson and her significant other Rik Tjarks; her pets, Cooper and Penny (Dog Mom); "sister" Julie Ellis; brothers-in-law, Chris Ellis and Wendall (Tammy) Ellis, Danny Ellis; nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and personal friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ames, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the Ames Animal Shelter.
