Dear Doug & Alan, please accept my deepest condolences. Lotus was one of the first people to welcome me and my wife Sherry to Ames in 1983. We became good friends, both through birding and the UUFA. We really enjoyed your parents' company and even gained some new pets (zebra finches) from them. Lotus was delightful to spend time with, always so welcoming. She had a wonderful combination of curiosity and knowledge, and such a deep, caring connection to Nature. She touched many folks along the way and will long be fondly remembered. So very sorry for the loss of your Mother, Doug and Alan. Your Mom was an admirable woman who was such a delight to visit with each time I saw her at the UUFA. Lotus was a very important person in my life after I joined the Unitarian Fellowship of Ames! My husband & I loved visiting Lotus & Wilmer & their birds & hearing about their travels & adventures! May she now Rest In Peace!
