Melvalene Mason's Obituary
Melvalene Mason, 87, of Ames passed away on August 11, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 10:30a.m. at Cornerstone Church of Christ (14777 US-65, Zearing, IA 50278). Born Melvalene Aerial Hess on April 29, 1936, in Moulton, Iowa to Rollie and Erma (Jenkins) Hess. She was a graduate of Moulton High School with the class of 1954. Melvalene married Joseph W. Davis in 1955 in Moulton, Iowa and from this union two daughters were born. After the marriage was dissolved in 1984, she married Harold Mason in 2006 in Maxwell, Iowa. Melvalene was an administrative assistant and retired from Iowa State University in 2002. She worked in the Central Stores, Purchasing, and Thielen Heath Center at Iowa State. Many things brought Melvalene joy but spending time with her family was the best thing, in her free time she could be found at the local bowling alley always chasing the 300 game. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husbands Joseph and Harold. Left to cherish Melvalene's memory is her children: Sonja (Tim) Babcock of Ames, and Peggy (Bryon) Daggett of McCallsburg, grandchildren: Tony (Annette) Babcock, Tyler (Kelli) Babcock, Evan (Kyra) Babcock, and Lucas Daggett, also 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
