Mildred "Sally" Johnson, age 84, of Ames died Saturday, November 22, at Northcrest Health Care Center in Ames. A gathering of friends and family will be one hour before the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service Wednesday, November 26, at Gi Read Obituary
Dear John, I learned with sorrow and sadness of the passing of your mother. I recollected our conversations you shared with me about her health. May the Almighty God give her a peaceful rest. May He also grant you and your entire family strength at this time of need.
I first met Sally when she became the secretary for the Department of Industrial Administration at ISU. That relationship continued at ISU with Sally either in the IAD Department etc or when she changed jobs to work with John Pace in what we all knew as Space and Schedules. Everyone who had anything to do with offering and teaching classes at ISU knew Sally Johnson. She was always the same on our telephone conversations and request for classroom space. I was never aware of her being critical of anyone even if their request for a classroom space was selfish or ridiculous. My sons and I were at the Johnson farm the morning after the Jordan tornado and helped pick up the mess. kay had given Sally a flower made of dollar bills which was found up north somewhere and returned to Sally (if I remember the story correctly).
