I first met Monte arranging a place to stay for Midnight Madness runners. Then, Monte started the All American weekend in Ames which included many events over Labor Day weekend. Our end was to include Captain Midnight'd Run in which he contributed the prize money for the male and female winners. Monte ran a few of them himself. Fun guy to be around and I see a history in the obit I was not aware...very ingenious man. We are better being touched by Monte. Sorry for the loss.
Monte was a classmate of mine at Great Bend High School in Great Bend Kansas. I was saddened to learn of his passing. Even at that early age, he exhibited traits that would serve him well in later life. I feel privileged to have known him.

I have many good memories of Monte from our high school days in Great Bend. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I also appreciate his service to our country. We actually were both artillery officers at about the same time and stationed at Ft. Sill but our paths never crossed.
