Paul Helland's Obituary
Paul E. Helland Sr. WAØNSH (Never Stay Home), signed off and went home on April 18, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 4:00 - 7:00p.m. at the Slater Community Center, 301 Main St., Slater, IA. Paul's family has asked to please join them in casual clothing. Paul was born on January 30, 1941 to R.B. Helland and Kathryn (Evans) in Huxley, IA. Paul married Joan Marie Purvis on June 5, 1960. They made their home in Slater for most of their years together. Although we rejoice in the reunion of our parents, he will be greatly missed by many. To name a few, Ed (Kim) Helland, Kathy (Randy) Weatherman, Debby (Todd) Kennedy, Steve (Cathy) Helland; 12 grandchildren; 6 ½ great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Dick) Webb, Jeanne Bohning, and Susan (Dave) Roe; brother-in-law, Jon Purvis; and Paul's extended family of amateur radio operators.
