Richard Dean Van Valin, aged 74, passed away unexpectedly on August 28th, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at 2p.m. on Wednesday, September 4th, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellows Read Obituary
So sorry to hear about Rich. He was a great guy, and a friend to all.
Rich made each of us feel special; we especially enjoyed his humor, his insights, his warmth, his stories, and his down-to-earth ways. He was proud of his family, looked out for family and friends, and rolled up his sleeves for whatever task was before him. We will miss Rich tremendously in Friendship Force of Central Iowa and as a dependable, fun, and caring friend. We miss him already.
Rich was very kind and thoughtful. He was a great friend to everyone he came in contact with. He will be missed.
