Richard H. Walden's Obituary
Richard H. (Dick) Walden, age 76, of Ames, Iowa died in Bradenton, Florida on Thursday, November 12, 2015. A gathering of friends and family will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa with an 11:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, memorial service at Gilbert Lutheran Church in Gilbert, Iowa. Interment will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery. Dick was born April 30, 1939 in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Harold and Frances Walden. He was raised in Waterloo and graduated from West High School in 1957. He played half back on the Mythical 1955 State Championship West Waterloo Football team, later inducted into the West Waterloo High School Hall of Fame. Dick graduated from Loras College in Dubuque and later a Vocational Technology degree in applied Science in Photography. He married Anna Keeler on August 26, 1972. Dick owned and operated Walden Photo with his brother, Robert in Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, and Ames. He and Anna enjoyed wintering in Florida for the last 15 years. Dick is survived by his wife, Anna Walden, son, David (Carey) Walden, daughter, Michelle (Gary) Milam, five grandchildren, sister, JoAnne (Otto) Miller, sister-in-law, Jane Walden, and brother-in-law Roger (JoAnn) Keeler. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Walden, and grandson, Carter Milam. Memorials may be directed to the Gilbert Backpack Buddies.
