Please accept my condolences on the passing of Ron.
I worked in the Office of Advanced Planning briefly and got to know Ron. He was a very kind, friendly, and helpful person. After his retirement I saw him a few times at the Iowa Center. Before my DOT days I had worked in Fort Dodge at the Kallin Johnson Monument company and had a few conversations with Ron about monuments. He was very thoughtful of buying his family monument while alive. May God rest his soul.

I'm blessed and honored to have known Ron. He helped teach me the great game of pickleball along w/ some other folks in Ames. He mentored me through a few tournaments, he brought me up when I was down. So grateful for all he has done. My thoughts and prayers to the family. - Kris Wilson
Ron brought pickleball from Arizona to Ames, which is enjoyed by so many in Ames. He got lines painted on the city tennis courts, taught clinics and OLLI classes and was a great teacher, sportsman and promoter of pickleball. We are very indebted to his willingness to help us learn to play.

Prayers and sympathy to your family! So enjoyed playing pickleball with both Rons in Ames! He was truly a gentleman and we had many matches of Az vs Ia as I winter in Az too. He will be missed by so many!
Prayers and Sympathy to your family. Ron Smith and Ron Fosse are the two men responsible for getting pickle ball started in Ames. They both loved playing and played as partners. Getting the Ames recreation services to allow them time at the City Hall gym and marking tennis courts for pickle ball so others in the area could play. What a fun memory. Dear Betty, I am saddened to learn of your loss of Ron. He was a lovely man. I got to know him through our church affiliation at Sun Life.
