It has been many years that we have talked to Ron, but will always remember the laughs that were shared while watching Steve, Mike and our Mike growing up while we were in Ames. Rest in Peace. Our Sympathy goes to Mary and all the family.
Ron will be missed in the neighborhood. He brought us pears and apples when we were making lots of pies to raise money for Beyond Welfare. He was a very caring person. He had a great sense of humor too. When we were having a garage sale and there were two tables of free stuff by the curb, he came up to me and another neighbor and said, "is all of this free?" When we said yes, he said as he was putting his arms around me and and the other neighbor, "Then I'll take you two" and laughed.
I worked with Ron at the DOT Sign Shop. Ron was very kind & would do anything for anyone in need. In 1993 when my husband was severely injured in an accident, Ron came right down to the hospital to lend moral support. When I had a knee replacement years later, he showed up at my house with a smile and a delicious home made meatloaf dinner. He had a great sense of humor, always smiling & I will miss his visits to the Sign Shop. Mary, Mike, and Steve - you are in my prayers & may you find strength in your memories of Ron.
Sorry for your loss. Ron was a great guy who always had a hug and a smile for you. I will miss playing pool with him as he always was ready to give me advice.
Ron was a lot of fun to be around. I sure am glad I had some time with him. The best to the family.
We knew Ron through pool and I played cribbage with him every chance we could get. His laughter, smile and always positive attitude will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. RIP Ron and we will see you soon. Hugs and love.
We are so sorry for your loss. Ron was such an amazing man. Not only in the pool tournaments but also as a best friend. Ron was always willing to help anyone out and always putting a smile on everyones' faces. He will deeply be missed.
We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts & prayers are with you. We live across the street from Ron and our family will miss him. He was great fun to talk to and our doggies were even friends. He was always bringing something over for our kids. In fact, our daughter has been hugging the big, stuffed bunny he gave her a couple Easters ago. Very kind, gentle man. He will be missed. We will make a donation to the Ames Animal Shelter in his name.

He always had a great smile and a big hug in addition to an infectious laugh. I know Mom and Dad wish they could be with you all on this sad day but they just aren't comfortable with driving in unfamiliar cities.
