Sabeha Popelka's Obituary
Sabeha (Sabi) Popelka passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Visitation for friends and family will be held at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care (414 Lincoln Way, Ames, IA 50010) on Wednesday, September 6 from 4:00-6:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service. She was proceeded in death by her husband, John Popelka, and her parents, Neezbat and Leonie Khan. She is survived by her children: Trisha and Brett Miller, Megan and Matt Buttz, Kaitlin and Jesse Scott and Ashley Griffiths, and her grandchildren: Jackson Buttz, Tyson Miller and Baylor Buttz. Mom's favorite loves were her three grandchildren. They brought her every last ounce of joy in her life. Her face lit up when any of them would walk into the room. She loved snuggling them, hugging them and doting on them. They were her world. Mom also adored her sons-in-law. She always knew we had chosen amazing humans to do life with. And that made her incredibly happy. We take great comfort in knowing Mom is reunited with her person, our dad. We know that they are sharing a meal, clinking glasses and hugging all of our loved ones. One thing is for sure, she was incredibly proud of us. Mom and dad will be taking in baseball games, swim meets and softball games from afar. Cheering on their favorite athletes as they find their way in this world. MA! We will miss your hugs, your cooking and your inability to sing on-key. Give dad, uncle Sha and Aunt Cindy a hug for us. In lieu of flowers, please consider directing donations to the family for a memorial to be established. While we love flowers and plants, we are struggling to keep the ones from dad's funeral alive.
