V. Allen Sloniger's Obituary
V. Allen Sloniger age 89 of rural Cambridge, died October 13, 2017, in Madrid. A gathering of friends and family will be 4-7:00 p.m. Monday, Oct 16, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way Ames, Iowa with a 7:00 p.m. Order of Eastern Star service followed by a Masonic Service, burial will take place at a later date at Ames Municipal Cemetery Ames, Iowa. V. Allen Sloniger was born on October 15, 1927, in Bradshaw, NE., the son of Victor H. and Eva Mae Berger Sloniger. The family moved to a farm by Shipley, Iowa, where Allen graduated from Shipley High School in 1945. Allen married Elsie Marie Taylor on August 22, 1948, in Ames. Allen was very active in the Nevada Lodge #99 A.F. & A.M. (formerly Tabernacle Lodge) of Nevada, where he was Past Master he was also obtained his DL #2486 in 1967. He was a member of Ankeny New Hope OES # 531 of Ankeny and was Past Patron and a member of the Joshua # 127 York Rite of Ames. Allen was a fifty year member of all these organizations. Allen is survived by his daughter, Mary Jo (Philip E.) Fitzgerald of Muscatine; three sons, Charles A. (Joyce) Sloniger of Cambridge, Max A. (Judy) Sloniger of Livonia, MO, Mark A. (Kris) Sloniger of Nevada; grandchildren: Jennifer (Eric) Peterson, Daniel (Brianne) Fitzgerald, Kathleen (Todd) Jacobs, Gregg (Maggie) Sloniger, Melissa Sloniger, Sarah (Matthew) Sorenson, Rebecca (Dan) Graf, Roxanne (Jeff) Pieters, Max A. Sloniger II; and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elsie Marie, sister, LaDena Faye Bishop, two grandsons, Matthew K. Sloniger and James Eric Fitzgerald.
