We were saddened to hear the news of Bill’s passing. I cherish the memories of all the years I worked with Bill. He and his family have a special place in my heart.
I owe a large chunk of my career to Bill. I started my career at NCC the same year that Bill came in as president. I had the pleasure of learning what a strong and compassionate leader can do for a community. I was about the lowest man on the ladder during the five years we worked together, but I always felt empowered to share my ideas and to continue to grow personally and professionally. Bill had me as his partner for a couple of different golf tournaments, and while there was a 0% chance we were winning anything, there was 100% chance that we were going to share some laughs and come off the course with some good stories. To his family, his professional legacy continues to live on in those of us who were blessed to spend time under his learning tree and who strive to give the next generation of educators the same opportunities to grow that he gave to us.
Such an amazing person! I always felt at home at NCC with Dr. Giddings as he always had time to chat with the students. It was always nice when he knew you by name! My condolences to the family. He will be greatly missed.

My Uncle Bill was a kind and caring man. He showed great generosity, and dedication to the field of education. I have fond memories of staying at his condo in Okoboji. I will always particularly appreciate Uncle Bill and Aunt Jean's support at my mother's passing, as well as their support at my dad's passing just over a year ago. He had a love for playing guitar, and was a person of tremendous faith and dedication to his church. A distinguished alumni of Iowa State, his years of service to Iowa and Nebraska Community Colleges are a testimony to his desire to serve a greater good. I will dearly miss his physical presence on this earth but I take great comfort in knowing that he is with our Lord in unimaginable glory and peace. Thank-you Uncle Bill for the example you set, and for the love and kindness you showed.
