Zachary Meyer's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Zachary Meyer, 29, of Gilbert, Iowa, announces his tragic passing that occurred at his home on February 2, 2021. Zac was born on June 12th, 1991 in Des Moines, Iowa to Steve and Sheri (Hunt) Meyer. He was a graduate of Gilbert Senior High School with the class of 2010. Zac was passionate about the things he believed in and had a gentle soul. He was a hard worker who learned quickly. He enjoyed gaming, programming, fast cars, and guns. Zac was a deep thinker who cared very earnestly for the ones he loved. He enjoyed a good laugh and had a contagious giggle. He had acquired his CDL and milling certifications and was excited to move forward in that endeavor. His zest for life was robbed by his battle with opioid addiction that started in his late teens. He will be lovingly remembered by father, Steve (Jolene); mother, Sheri Lortz (Gary); siblings, Rachael and Benjamin (Christina). Zac is preceded in death by his grandparents, Vernon & Beverly Meyer; Jim & Mariann Hunt. A memorial service will be held on March 13th, 2021, 2 p.m. at Stonebrooke Church, 3611 Eisenhower Ave., Ames, IA.
