Karen Tuttle's Obituary
On Sunday, January 9th 2022, Karen Tuttle, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 71. Karen was born on February 12th, 1950 in Fremont, Nebraska to Francis 'Jack' and Margaret (Kaup) Foy. She received her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Nebraska, and worked in elementary speech and language development for over 30 years in Ames, IA. On November 24th, 1973, she married Terry Tuttle. They raised one son, Chris, and two daughters, Jenny and Emily. Karen will be remembered for her loving nature, compassion for others, and on rare occasions her endearing stubbornness. She cherished spending time with her five grandchildren. Karen's devotion to her family was unrelenting. Karen brought an upbeat cheerful spirit to many family reunions among her six siblings and families. Karen also enjoyed the company of countless friends while discussing books, playing bridge, enjoying a musical or play, and sharing a good cup of coffee. After her career in Speech Pathology, Karen continued to share her passion for learning by working at the Pumpkin Patch toy store in downtown Ames. Karen is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Kyle) Meeske of Los Gatos, California and Emily (Isaac) Law of Ames. Karen was a proud grandmother to Abigail and Logan Meeske and Julia, Charles, and Audrey Law. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Margaret Foy of Fremont, NE; her husband, Terry Tuttle of Ames; and her son, Christopher Tuttle of Chicago, IL. Services are November 11, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church 2900 Hoover Ave, Ames, Iowa 50010. A gathering will be held on November 11, from 4-6:00 p.m. at Reiman Gardens 1407 University Blvd, Ames, IA 50011. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Tuttle Memorial Fund at First National Bank of Ames, 405 5th Street, Ames, IA 50010 for a scholarship fund in her memory.
