Kerry Morrissey's Obituary
Kerry Andrew Morrissey, 60, of Boone, Iowa passed away on June 13, 2020 from complications due to COVID-19. He was a farmer to his core, having grown up on his family farm and continuing to help others with their farming operations until the end. He earned his degree in Auto Mechanics and devoted his entire life to tinkering with anything with an engine - specifically Farmall and Allis-Chalmers tractors (and may it be said that he only drove a John Deere when the Busches forced him to - though he did always shower afterwards). He married Cherie Quillen on September 18, 1982 and they had their two girls, Stacey and Katie. He spent 27 years working for the Ames Post Office, which he loved, and took care of all the vehicles. He was always driving across the universe to get a new truck or a new car or a new tractor, and working in his shop with his best friend, Loren. He would say his greatest achievements are his two daughters ("other than wrecking a couple of cars, you girls turned out alright") and that he got his Nissan Altima to make it to 500,000 miles. He did not care to follow anyone's rules but his own or listen to anyone's opinions but his own. He was hilarious, sarcastic, stubborn, practical, and also one of the most generous of human beings. He would drop everything to help anyone at any time of day and keep a level head through all crisis situations. He taught his girls to be kind, discerning, and sometimes self-sufficient - but we all know he believed "if you want something done right - do it yourself" so that did tend to go by the wayside. There is so much that can be said for and about him, but suffice it to say that he will be sorely and deeply missed by so many. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Charlotte Morrissey, and his brothers, Phillip and Mark Morrissey. He is survived by his wife, Cherie Morrissey, his daughters, Stacey Williams and Katie Morrissey, his sister, Becky Seifert, and grandson, Fox Williams (who will always have his grandpa's red hair!).
